I’m pondering a few things as we head towards U2 kicking off leg 3 of the U2 360 Tour in Turin, Italy on August 6.

1. Have we seen the last of the steering wheel microphone? (Swinging on this or even being tempted to do so doesn’t seem safe for B-Diddy in the aftermath of his back injury. Does it?)
2. If that is gone, or even if it is not, one could assume the band might change up the encore a bit anyway. How different will the whole vibe of the concert’s ending be?
3. Will U2 really be playing new, unreleased material to stadium sized crowds?
4. Will these songs be good? Great? Bad? Bon Jovi?

Oh, And Unrelated: What’s a better band name – Snouts At Our Trough or Anonymous Gremlins? I’m undecided.

Snouts At Our Trough. Gremlins always reminds me of that movie. Plus, the name can be shortened to “Snouts”, or you can use the cool abbreviated band name: S@OT

    1. He will ONLY use the hanging mic, helps stretch back muscles.
    2. Oh it will be a different ending… I hear something about “cartwheels”
    3. No new songs, but “Fast Cars” plays twice.

I will be very surprised (but delighted to be wrong) if they play new material at the shows. I love our boys dearly but they rarely take risks like that. They like to be in control, and to have an idea how something will be received. Fans knowing songs beforehand means more chance they’ll like them. Too scary otherwise. But who knows, maybe this down time was a time for reflection.

I agree about the steering wheel mic. Not a good idea. I think with Bono being less active onstage (for surely he will have to be) the shows will be more emotional, spiritual. Different.

I hope they change up the ending. I live UV but he’ll have to bring it down even more. And THAT would be something to see. I hated Surrender as an ending. Great song but too morose for a final song. Sends you away suicidal!! We need something mellow but uplifting. White As Snow or better still Fez – Being Born. Now that would be an ending. Ending on rebirth.

I don’t think that Bono will have to be less active onstage; if anything, he might be more active. If his back was causing him pain before, and it’s been fixed now, then he should feel a lot better. He might take fewer risks – with the memory of being in the hospital fresh in his mind – but I would hope that he can move around better now without being in pain.

You know what? I’d never even looked at it that way. In theory now, he should be as good as new. As he said himself he has been rebuilt by German engineering! :)

Maybe despite himself he will be nervous – understandably – and cautious. But maybe we won’t see too many changes.

Well, not long until I find out anyway! Just two weeks!

    Annoymous Gremlins ftw.
