Some great videos of U2 in Seattle on June 4:
All I Want Is You (more videos on Chrisedge’s YouTube channel here)
Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me (more videos on Dray9111′s YouTube channel here)
Seattle was the 10th show I’ve seen on the 360 tour, but first since 2009. All I Want Is You and Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me were two of the highlights of the show for me. (Pretty much any song they played that they weren’t playing in 2009 the last time I saw them…those were my highlights).
The setlist for the show is here.
The BEST part of the show for me was seeing/hearing Zooropa live. Zooropa forgives a lot of sins. That is written on my arm right now. Hearing that just made everyone and everything disappear. (Of course, Zooropa is a song I can’t find great video of from Seattle—Watch this one instead.)
The fact that U2 could hide under a giant pinecone screen and play Zooropa and still make me feel like I had my eyes closed under my covers with my headphones on is really some kind of crazy shit.
I have some setlist gripes, and I even wrote them out, but then I deleted them. Or Zooropa did. You can’t go to a stadium show to see U2 and complain that they are playing stadium rock songs. (Can you?) I believe that by the next time I see them, post-Glastonbury, in Montreal, they might have a change or two in the set. If not, maybe I’ll complain then. (But probably not, if the show feels as good as Seattle did.)
When Bono introed the band he mentioned that you may think of Larry as the tough guy, but that he’s really quite thoughtful. Adam, you may think of as a ladies man, but he’s also a gentleman. And Edge, you may think of as a zen master genius, but really he’s one of Lady Gaga’s backup dancers. There was a lot of good energy radiating off that stage. And you never know when this will all come around again….
